The Great upperboards will be lifted and planed true to ensure free movement of the sliders and minimise wind leakage. The Great soundboard will be opened up and water damaged pallets recovered in new felt and leather. The Great action will be adjusted. Water stained areas will be cleaned. The tonal regulation of the Great pipework will be checked and the organ tuned.

The organ was dismantled and the whole instrument removed from the church and taken to our workshop.

“Console”
The ivory key facings were made secure and wear at the pivots were taken up. Warped keys were straightened. The remaining parts of the console were cleaned and a new lock fitted.

Pre-work
“Soundboard, Actions & Chests”
The soundboard was put on test in our workshop to establish the extent of work required. The action backfalls and rollerboard wrere fully overhauled and restored, with new pivot wires being installed. The trackers were checked and damaged material replaced. New leather buttons and wires were installed throughout the action at reassembly. The drawstop action was overhauled and eased.

“Wind System”
The reservoir was made sound. The feeders were made sound, and the hand-blowing mechanism was brought back into use. The electric blower re-sited.

Miscellaneous
The casework was cleaned and restored, and missing elements renewed. New backing cloth was installed behind the centre front pipes. The central access panel was hinged. The organ light and mirror was removed and the case woodwork made good. The organ frame and swell box checked and repaired. The rod installed to hold open the shutters was improved.
